Netflix India Cuts Plan Pricing Up To 60% To Attract More Viewers

Netflix India Pricing Plan Change 2021

In a surprise announcement on Tuesday morning Netflix India announced that they are reducing their pricing for India customers. The pricing has been reduced up to 60% for some of the plans. The price reduction has been done to attract more and more customers of Indian streaming market.

India Streaming Market has been very competitive in terms of pricing where Netflix India is facing a tough competition from Amazon prime or Disney+ Hotstar. There are many local streaming services also which are giving a lot of competition.

Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar has already understood the cost effective nature of Indian market that’s why their plans are available at a much cheaper rate from Netflix. Both services have plans going up to Rs.1500 per year where Netflix was going up to Rs.7200 per year for the 4K plan. Disney+ Hotstar already include the 4K streaming in the Rs.1500 per year plan and provide up to 4 screens also.

So it was natural for Netflix to feel the heat and do something to capture more market of the India streaming audience. There are other streaming services like Zee5, ALT Balaji, Sony Liv, Apple TV+ etc which are also available at a much reduced price in Indian market. And many of those services are spending a lot of money on creating local content which is also attracting a lot of audience.
